Acorn Festival Announcement

Acorn Festival Announcement

The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with United Community Bank, announces the 2018 Acorn Festival.  This year’s festival will be held September 8, 2018 from 10am – 4pm.  This will be a fun filled family day with live music, children’s activities, food trucks, antique cars and tractors, and great local shopping.  The McDonald’s of Four Oaks Kids Zone will feature bounce houses, carnival games, face painting, train rides, and a petting zoo.  The stage in Barbour’s Grove Park will feature Eric Strickland and Here Tonight, the Antique Outlaws, and The Expressions.  The event will be larger than previous years with more children’s activities and the addition of the Johnston Health Business Expo, an additional vendor area.  One of the favorite event attractions, the antique car and tractor cruise in, will be hosted by OPW Retail Fueling this year.  This event is an incredible opportunity to be a part of the Four Oaks community and to support the local community businesses.

Amber England, Four Oaks Chamber Director, encourages vendors in the area to register as soon as possible.  “We are expanding our vendor area this year to feature a handmade and shopping area as well as a business expo.  We feel this growth will better feature our local businesses and our artisan vendors.  However, vendor registration will still be limited so please register as soon as possible.”

Vendor registration can be found on the event website at http://fouroakschamber.com/news/annual-acorn-festival/.  In addition to the support of United Community Bank, the Acorn Festival is also made possible through the support of The Town of Four Oaks, the Johnston County Visitors Bureau, House-Autry Mills, HomeTowne Realty, McDonald’s of Four Oaks, Anita C Stephenson, CPA, Keene and Associates Insurance Agency, Carolina Packers, and Country Superstars 102.3.

The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is also looking for volunteers to assist with the festival day events.  If you have any questions about this event or would like more information about volunteering, please contact the Chamber Office at (919) 963-4044 or email at [email protected]

Teachers Lead Four Oaks Recipient, Mrs. Misty Barrett!

Teachers Lead Four Oaks Recipient, Mrs. Misty Barrett!

The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce and HomeTowne Realty are celebrating Mrs. Misty Barrett as June’s Teachers Lead Four Oaks, Teacher of the Month recipient.  Mrs. Barrett was presented with a certificate of recognition as well as a bag of gifts from many of the Chamber member businesses.  The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is honored to recognize the lasting contributions made to the Four Oaks community by our teachers.

Four Oaks Middle School leadership shared as part of the nomination process, “Mrs. Barrett seeks to know her students before she teaches them. Based on this understanding, she creates activities, lessons, and projects to help the students understand the content being taught.  Mrs. Barrett goes above and beyond to take her students to business, restaurants, and other places in the community to not only show the students how to contribute within their community but to also support the local Four Oaks businesses.”

The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce and HomeTowne Realty have partnered to present Teachers Lead Four Oaks, a monthly recognition for Four Oaks teachers.  Four Oaks teachers are a vital part of developing and leading our future workforce and future community leaders. The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce recognizes teachers who motivate and inspire their students through their teaching practices and their commitment to the community.

Big Turnout for Small Business Education

The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Johnston Community College Small Business Center at the end of May to bring the first of three 2018 business education opportunities to our membership.  Martin Brossman of Martin Brossman and Associates presented a 3 hour workshop on marketing a small business through social media.  Several social media platforms were discussed including Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and more.  Mr. Brossman then walked the participants through real work examples using our own local businesses.  Feedback from the education session has been very positive.

The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is meeting it’s goal of developing local leadership through these business education sessions.  Future dates will be announced soon.  These education opportunities are made possible through out partnerships with Johnston Community College and sponsorship by the Johnston County Visitors Bureau.

Four Oaks PROUD Day 2018

On Friday, June 1st, many Four Oaks businesses came together to celebrate the quaint small town of Four Oaks and the business community that calls it home.  In a show of unity, business owners and employees wore Four Oaks Proud t-shirts, promoting many of our local businesses whose logos and business names are spotlighted on the back of the shirt.  This was an opportunity for our businesses to come together to recognize and celebrate how much the Four Oaks business community has to offer.  This is also an ongoing opportunity to promote our businesses as people wear their shirts throughout the year.  The photos taken as part of the Four Oaks Proud initiative will also be placed into a video which will be spotlighted throughout town at Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce events.  If you would like to purchase a Four Oaks Proud shirt, they are available for sale at Cleo’s Closet and More Decor or the Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce for $10 each.  If you would like to submit your photo to be included in the Four Oaks Proud video please submit to [email protected] by Monday, June 11th.
