30th Annual Acorn Festival

Four Oaks welcomed visitors to the 30th Annual Acorn Festival

The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with United Community Bank, hosted the 30th Annual Acorn Festival on October 12, 2019.

This year’s festival was a fun filled family day with live music, children’s activities, food trucks, antique cars, tractors and great local shopping.  The Kids Zone, sponsored by Huebner Family McDonalds was a big hit with the popular Rock-Climbing Wall, amazing inflatables and trackless train rides.  Camp Flintlock was a great addition to this year’s festival made possible by CommWell Health.  They provided interesting activities for families to participate in including Quill & Ink writing, period dress up and authentic food preparation.  Camp Flintlock also had Fife & Drum Corp performances as well as Musket Demonstrations.  Johnston Health once again presented the Acorn Festival Business Expo.  The Expo is a great opportunity for local businesses to participate in the festival.  Attendee’s enjoyed viewing the classic cars and antique tractors on Main Street.  Ira Parker won the People’s Choice Award for his 1958 Ford Fairlane and Arron Cox took home the award for his Case Tractor.  The Four Oaks Middle School Choir directed by Mrs. Catherine Lavin kicked off the festivities with our National Anthem.  The Louis Waymore Band and Carolina Dreamers provided great live music entertainment throughout the day!

Joan Pritchett, Four Oaks Chamber Director, was pleased by the crowd excitement with the upgrades made to the Kids Zone including the addition of Camp Flintlock. The quality of the vendors at the artisan market made for a fun shopping experience.   This event is an important time for our local businesses to connect with the surrounding community.  Four Oaks businesses have so much to offer the community and this was a great time for local families to learn more about them.
