The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce strives to promote and support the businesses of Four Oaks. The Business of the Month Recognition Program is one the of the programs offered to our members to help meet this goal. Business of the month recipients will be chosen by Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce Board members and must be active Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce members. Nominations can be made on the Chamber of Commerce website at the link below. Businesses meeting one or more of the following selection criteria will be prioritized in the selection process:
- Change in business model
- Beautification efforts
- New businesses
- Business announcement
- Rapid business growth
- Decline in business

2018 Business of the Month Recipients
The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Hwy 55 as September’s Business of the Month. Hwy 55 was nominated for Business of the Month in recognition of their contributions to the Four Oaks community. Hwy 55 opened in Four Oaks in the summer of 2017 and have recently celebrated their one-year anniversary. The restaurant prides itself on the many ways it recognizes the local community through their Discount Days. Each Monday local heroes are given 15% off their meal. This discount applies to Teachers, Public Safety Officers, and Emergency Personnel. Every Tuesday is Kid’s Night where children 12 and under receive 50% off their meal and a free custard from 5-9pm. On Sunday’s people can enjoy 10% off their meal all day by bringing in their church bulletin. The restaurant also offers fundraising opportunities to local charitable organizations. “We enjoy an ongoing relationship with the Four Oaks American Legion Post to support their pancake breakfast fundraising efforts. This is an opportunity we are able to extend to other local organizations looking for a unique fundraising opportunity here in the Four Oaks community”, shares Kenneth Williams, Operator. Stanfield’s General Store
The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Stanfield’s General Store as August Business of the Month. Stanfield’s General Store was nominated for Business of the Month in recognition of recent business growth. Stanfield’s General Store has recently opened an adjoining addition which features antiques and collectables. They have also begun opening up the store the Third Thursday of each month for an evening of live music, wine tastings, and food sampling. Stanfield’s General Store will feature its next Third Thursday event on August 16th from 6-8pm featuring The Classics, playing classic country and popular hits. This event will also offer food sampling from many of the store’s local favorites. The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Johnston Now as July’s Business of the Month. Johnston Now was nominated for Business of the Month in recognition of their sold out inaugural Johnston Now Honors event. Johnston Now Honors is a countywide awards celebration honoring local heroes, and the winners received a trophy and a feature profile in the July edition of Johnston Now magazine. “Johnston Now was created to shine a spotlight on positive things happening in our county,” Shanna Capps, Johnston Now general manager, said. “This event was us taking that mission one step farther and truly recognizing the efforts of heroes in our own back yard. We are humbled to have brought together such an inspiring group of people to recognize their efforts.”
Johnston Now Honors recognized citizens all over Johnston County including Morgan Lassiter, a Four Oaks resident, who was awarded the Rising Star award. Lassiter recently graduated in the top 10 percent of her class at South Johnston High School. She plans to attend Campbell University, where she plans to major in Biology Pre-Physical Therapy with an eye on becoming a Physical Therapist. She also volunteers her time in the kindergarten and first-grade classrooms at Four Oaks Elementary, works with the Miracle League and Special Olympics and is a member of the National Honor Society, Trojan Ambassadors, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Spanish Honor Society. Also recognized was Donna Bailey-Taylor for the Spirit of the County award. Bailey-Taylor is the longtime president and CEO of the Johnston County Visitors Bureau. Last year, that organization awarded more than $225,000 in capital grants for projects around the county — all funded by tourism dollars. The Johnston County Visitors Bureau are also active members and sponsors of the Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce. Baily-Taylor has also served on boards for Howell Woods, Ava Gardner Museum, Bentonville Battlefield, Clayton Piano Festival, Tobacco Farm Life Museum and the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium.

Anita C Stephenson, CPA
The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Anita Stephenson, CPA as May’s Business of the Month. Anita Stephenson, CPA was nominated for Business of the Month in recognition of her business growth. The firm has been in Four Oaks since 2004 and continues to experience growth by continually adding new tax and accounting clients. “We specialize in helping small business clients. With the new tax law changes and the complexity of tax filings & reporting it is more important than ever to have expert advice to navigate through the requirements and utilize the tax laws to the fullest extent to maximize tax savings. McDonald’s of Four Oaks
The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is celebrating McDonald’s of Four Oaks as April’s Business of the Month. McDonald’s of Four Oaks was nominated for Business of the Month in honor of Mrs. Doris Huebner’s election to the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association Board of Directors and in recognition of their contributions to the Town of Four Oaks. Huebner Family McDonald’s supports many community based programs in Four Oaks. The local schools annually host School Nights at McDonald’s which provides the schools with the opportunity to receive 20% of sales during that three hour period. All of the Johnston County Educators and support staff receive a beverage card each academic year that allows them to receive a free beverage each visit during the school year and the Huebner’s have sponsored with the Four Oaks Parks and Recreation since their opening.
Holt Lake Gas and Grill
The Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Holt Lake Gas and Grill as March’s Business of the Month. Holt Lake Gas and Grill was nominated for Business of the Month in recognition of their beautification and renovation efforts. Tony Braswell, Owner, and Tonya Rodriguez, General Manager, have worked hard since 2016 to improve the look and service provided by Holt Lake Gas and Grill. They have remodeled the outside canopy and the front face of the building, installed new lighting, increased the food options available at the grill, and upgraded the inventory and customer pay systems. Mr. Braswell is very proud of the work put into the business and is appreciative to Ms. Rodriguez for her support.
