While at the Festival come out and learn some history with us at the Strickland/Creech log house on Civitan Road.  We will sponsor hayrides from downtown to the log house and back.

Here is what the History Foundation is sponsoring at the Acorn Festival at no charge:

1)      Hayrides
2)      Soap Making
3)      Ice Cream Making (product available)
4)      tours of the Strickland/Creech log house

And

The World’s Greatest Naval Stores Show in the USA.  Mr. Bryan Avery and his team will demonstrate the art and mystery of tar, pitch, and turpentine production in Johnston County in the 18th and 19th Centuries.  This is the only such demonstration of this once important industry in Johnston County in the world.   Mr. Avery has been featured on Tarheel Traveler a number of times as well as appeared in articles in various newspapers, The State Magazine, etc.  He travels the country presenting this dynamic show that you will never see anywhere else.  He will soon start appearing at Colonial Williamsburg as a guest artisan.

Come out and hear, see, smell, and live history!!
