Lowe’s Hometowns Program Volunteers Revitalize Barbours Grove Park in Four Oaks
FOUR OAKS, N.C. August 28, 2026 — The Four Oaks Chamber Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to the Lowe’s Hometowns program and the employee volunteers from the Smithfield Lowe’s store for completing a beautiful revitalization project at Barbours Grove Park.
Lowe’s Hometowns is the company’s signature community revitalization program and is part of Lowe’s broader commitment to community impact and employee volunteerism.
During two days of service on August 25 and 26, Lowe’s employees generously contributed their time and talents to refresh several areas of the park. The completed improvements included:
- Pressure washing the gazebo, stage, sidewalks and park benches
- Applying a fresh coat of paint to the gazebo
- Repainting the stage handrails and park benches
- Removing dead bushes and cleaning up landscaped areas
- Adding new plants and flowers throughout the park
“These improvements have made a tremendous difference at Barbours Grove Park,” said Joan Pritchett, Executive Director of the Four Oaks Chamber Foundation. “This park is an important gathering place for our community, and we are incredibly grateful to Lowe’s and its employee volunteers for investing their time, energy and resources in Four Oaks.”
The Foundation would like to personally recognize and thank Lowe’s Team Lead Greg Wells and volunteers Ron Stanley, Rita Joyner, Jessica Adamson, Joanna Armenakyan, Jordan Countryman, Debbie Sotla, Amanda Bryant and Kim Brown. Their dedication and hard work created a welcoming, refreshed space that residents and visitors will enjoy for years to come.
The participating employees represented the Lowe’s store located at 1230 N. Brightleaf Blvd. in Smithfield, North Carolina.
The Four Oaks Chamber Foundation was established to strengthen economic opportunities, workforce development and community programs. Projects such as the Barbours Grove Park revitalization demonstrate the positive impact that can be achieved when businesses, volunteers and community organizations work together.
